Astilbe - False Spirea - Great for shady spots, up to 3 hrs. sun Astilbes are one of the most dependable and prettiest shade garden plants! But even good gardeners make the mistake of buying them from "buy and sell" nurseries - where their origin is unknown, and their care is spotty at best. While they will last almost indefinitely in your garden with a minimum of care, in the typical retail store, they are kept way too dry and rarely perform well after that. Our Astilbes are started here, and kept outside over the winter each year to make them the healthiest and sturdiest you can buy.
